About

Koes Yuliadi is a lecturer, researcher, and filmmaker deeply rooted in the realms of theatre and cinema. Since 1993, he has served as a faculty member at the Theatre Department of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta (ISI Yogyakarta), teaching courses in scriptwriting, film screenplay, and dramatic film production.

His recent research explores the lives of Timorese women, Papuan migration in Halmahera, and the representation of female leads in Indonesian women directors’ films. His creative process is grounded in collaboration with local communities, embracing art as both inquiry and dialogue.

Beyond academia, he serves as a member of the Yogyakarta Cultural Council (2023-now) and as part of the curatorial teams for the Yogyakarta Cultural Festival (FKY) and the Yogyakarta Theatre Parade (Linimasa). He is also the founder of PUSPIN (Perkumpulan Seni Pertunjukan Indonesia) and Ruang Cipta Driya Foundation, both of which focus on performing arts, film, and collaborative engagements with local communities. Through these initiatives, Koes Yuliadi continues to explore the intersections between artistic practice, community engagement, and cultural transformation.
